Is this like a shared ride service?

No. CoFare matches you with another rider before anyone calls a ride. In chat, you agree where to meet, decide who will call the ride in a rideshare app, ride together, and split the fare outside CoFare.

No subscription, ever. Passes are pay-as-you-go. Cancellations, no-shows, and no-matches cost you nothing. Passes start at $2.50 each. Your first match is on us, no card needed.

How much can I actually save?

About half your usual fare. A $64 rideshare splits to $32 each, a $50 airport ride becomes $25. Surge nights, like concerts, conferences, game days, and holiday airports, are where CoFare shines because everyone heading the same direction at the same time means more matches.

What if no one's going my way?

CoFare keeps searching and notifies you the moment a match shows up. If multiple potential matches are available for your posted trip, you can browse them and request a specific rider. You're going anyway, nothing to lose.

What if our destinations are close but not exactly the same?

Close enough works. CoFare matches when both pickups AND destinations fall within about 2 miles of each other, and closer matches surface first. Same airport, same neighborhood, same campus, even if the exact addresses differ. You and your match coordinate the actual pickup and drop-off spots.

How long does my posted trip stay active?

Until you match, cancel, or 24 hours after your scheduled departure time, whichever comes first. After that the trip is automatically marked expired.

When does someone see my name and photo?

Never until you both agree to match. Before that, the other rider sees only your trip details, with no name, photo, or personal info. After matching, only your name + photo are shared. Phone numbers are never exchanged through CoFare.

How does CoFare use my location?

GPS helps us confirm your ride actually happened, so your pass only counts when you really shared a ride, not on a cancellation or no-show. Tracking only runs during your trip window (roughly 30 minutes before your scheduled departure through the end of the ride) and turns itself off automatically. Your location is never shared with your match.

How do you know my ride has actually been completed?

CoFare confirms each ride via the in-app 'Ride Complete' button, GPS during the trip window, or a time-based fallback if no signal is available, so passes never sit in limbo.

Never. Your free pass from signup and any purchased passes are all valid forever.

What happens if I cancel?

You can cancel a match (your trip stays active to find another rider) or cancel the entire trip anytime before the ride starts. Either way, your pass is only used when the ride actually completes, never on a cancellation.

Who calls the ride, and who pays?

After matching, chat to agree on a pickup spot and decide who will call one ride. Split the fare however works for both of you. CoFare does not book rides or handle payments.

What if I get a bad match?

Three options, no questions asked. Cancel if the match just isn't working out. The match ends and your pass is returned. You and that rider won't see each other in matches for 30 minutes, a small cool-off so neither of you gets stuck in a back-and-forth. Block to never see them again. They disappear from your future matches and you from theirs, and any active match with them cancels instantly. Report anything that feels unsafe. Tap Report in the chat menu and CoFare reviews every flag.

Can I match with riders of a specific gender?

Yes. In your profile settings, set a gender preference (women only, men only, or no preference). It works both ways. If you set 'women only,' only women see you and you see only women.

If you are landing at Indianapolis International Airport and staying downtown, the right option depends on your arrival time, luggage, budget, and whether another traveler is already going to the same area.

There is no single best answer for every arrival. Start with the bus when the schedule and luggage work for you. Choose a direct ride when time or convenience matters more. Consider sharing only when another traveler has a compatible route and timing.

The budget option: IndyGo Route 8

The Indianapolis Airport Authority lists IndyGo Route 8 as the fixed-route public bus between the airport and downtown. It is a local, non-express route, so allow more time than you would for a direct car trip.

IndyGo currently lists a $2.75 fixed-route fare with two hours of travel and a $6 daily fare cap. Confirm the current fare, direction, service alert, closest downtown stop, and final walking distance before you leave baggage claim.

Your arrival fits the current Route 8 schedule.
You are not in a hurry.
Your luggage is manageable on a public bus.
Your downtown destination is close to a convenient stop.

The direct option: taxi or an app-based ride

IND separates pickup areas by transportation type. The airport says taxis are available at the lower-level curb outside baggage claim. App-based ride pickup is in the Ground Transportation Center on the first floor of the Terminal Garage.

Collect your luggage and follow the airport signs before requesting a car. Check the live fare before booking because airport and event demand can affect the price.

You arrive late or have several bags.
Your hotel is not close to a convenient Route 8 stop.
You have a child-seat, mobility, or vehicle-size requirement.
A direct trip matters more than the lowest available fare.

The airport says hotels within five miles of IND offer courtesy vehicles, but each hotel can have a different route, schedule, and request process.

Ask whether the courtesy vehicle is running when your flight lands.

Confirm the pickup

Ask where to meet it and whether you must call after baggage claim.

Check your needs

Confirm luggage capacity and any accessibility requirements.

Keep downtown separate

Do not assume an airport hotel vehicle continues into downtown Indianapolis.

When sharing one direct ride makes sense

Large events create repeated travel patterns. Gen Con 2026 runs July 30 through August 2 across the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, and surrounding downtown hotels. Many attendees will land within the same few hours and head to the same hotel district.

If the bus does not fit your arrival, another attendee may be landing near your time and going to the same downtown area. Two compatible travelers can coordinate one normal direct ride and split the final transportation fare themselves.

For example, if two riders agree to split one final $40 transportation fare equally, each share is $20. The actual fare can be higher or lower.

Confirm the same destination area, not only "downtown."
Compare pickup windows and luggage needs.
Choose an exact public meeting point.
Agree on who will book and how the final fare, tip, tolls, and fees will be divided.
Keep a solo backup plan if a delay changes the timing.

Plan the return trip to IND

The same decision works in reverse. If Route 8 fits your flight and luggage, leave time for the walk to the stop, the scheduled trip, check-in, and airport security.

If you want a direct ride, hotel checkout creates a useful matching window. Two people leaving the same downtown hotel area for IND at a similar time may be able to share one ride. Compare the departure time each person needs, not only the flight time.

What CoFare does

CoFare helps you find someone going the same way before you book. You post your pickup, destination, and time. If another traveler has a compatible trip, you can match, chat, and agree on the plan.

One of you then books a normal taxi or app-based ride, and you split the transportation fare yourselves. CoFare does not book the ride, drive the vehicle, charge your card for the ride, or process the transportation fare.

Share only what another traveler needs to compare the route and coordinate a public meetup. Do not post a flight confirmation, room number, payment details, or other private information.
